Directorate of Policy, Planning & Research

The Directorate of Policy, Planning & Research provides the analytical backbone for MTI’s strategies, reforms, and long-term development agenda. It leads the development of trade and industry policies, oversees the implementation of the Ministry’s Strategic Plan, and coordinates inter-ministerial consultations to ensure alignment with national priorities, including the Big Five Game Changers. The Directorate supports evidence-based decision-making through economic research, sector analyses, and regulatory reviews.

As the Ministry’s central planning hub, it also monitors performance across directorates and agencies, ensuring accountability and effective delivery of results. The Directorate facilitates legislative reforms, institutional strengthening, and the development of policy frameworks that enable a competitive, inclusive, and innovation-driven trade and industrial ecosystem.
