Directorate of Export Promotion & Regional Integration

This Directorate advances Sierra Leone’s participation in regional and international markets by strengthening export competitiveness and expanding the country’s trade footprint. It coordinates national efforts to implement the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), the ECOWAS Trade Liberalisation Scheme (ETLS), and other trade agreements that open new regional opportunities for Sierra Leonean businesses. The Directorate also leads initiatives to grow the volume, mix, and destinations of exports.

Through policy support, market intelligence, and engagement with exporters, the Directorate promotes compliance with global standards — such as the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) and the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM). Its work enables producers and exporters to meet market requirements, strengthen value chains, and access high-value markets across Africa, Europe, and beyond.
